Guanajuato City, Mexico
While we were staying in San Miguel de Allende, we decided to take a day trip to the capital city in the region, Guanajuato City. Guanajuato City sits in a narrow valley at an altitude of 6,600 feet. It is about an 1 1/2 hour drive from SMA. There are no straight roads in the city, and the views all around the city are spectacular. We hired Dali from Discovery Tours as our guide, which means he did the driving too! With a group of 4 adults and 2 kids, we filled a mini-van per

Traveling with Kids: San Miguel de Allende
I recently returned from a two week trip with my family to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. We (my partner Andrew and I, and our daughter Elizabeth) chose San Miguel de Allende (SMA), because my friend Cari had mentioned six months earlier that she and her husband Eric and daughter Chloe were going to be spending some time there in the summer, and would we care to join them? The good news is, potent antibiotics are readily available in Mexico at the pharmacy, without a trip to the doctor, so it was no obstacle to obtain some Cipro. After day

San Miguel de Allende
I love this mirror in my bedroom. We are renting an Air BnB house for two weeks with friends in San Miguel de Allende and this mirror is on our wall. It is made of tin. If you look closely you can see it is all handmade, the flowers on the white border are hand painted, and its imperfection is just perfect. The top reminds me of a headpiece on a Tropicana Girl. San Miguel de Allende has many artisans, and I am looking forward to exploring the area and finding a handmade mirro
